We were contacted by Travis Kingsberry, who was convicted of homicide on May 16, 2017 in Henderson, NC for the 2009 shooting death of Montrell Alston. He is currently serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole. We were asked to provide our expert assessment of the documentation of DNA evidence relating to this crime and its use in the trial of Mr. Kingsberry.
Based on our report as well as other supporting documents, Travis was recently notified that his case is being reopened for evaluation by the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission.
